Stubby Squid Facts

Thickset Squid Facts The thickset squid, or Rossia pacifica, is a types of bobtail squid local to the Pacific Rim. It is known for its huge, complex (googly) eyes and ruddy earthy colored to purple shading, which turns entirely opalescent greenish dim when upset. Its little size and striking appearance have driven researchers to contrast it with a stuffed toy. While they are called squids, truth be told, they are nearer to cuttlefish. Quick Facts: Stubby Squid Logical Name: Rossia pacifica, Rossia pacifica diagensisCommon Names: Stubby squid, Pacific bounce followed squid, North Pacific bobtail squidBasic Animal Group: Invertebrate  Size: Body length around 2 inches (guys) to 4 inches (females)Weight: Less than 7 ouncesLifespan: year and a half to 2 yearsDiet: CarnivoreHabitat: Polar and deepwater living spaces along the Pacific RimPopulation: Unknown Conservation Status: Data insufficient Descriptionâ Squat squids are cephalopods, individuals from the Sepiolidae family, the subfamily Rossinae, and the variety Rossia. Rossia pacifica is partitioned into two subspecies: Rossia pacifica and Rossia pacifica diegensis. Diegensis is discovered distinctly in the eastern Pacific coast off Santa Catalina Island. It is littler and progressively sensitive, has bigger balances, and lives at more prominent profundities (about 4,000 feet) than the remainder of the R. pacifica species. Thickset squids resemble a blend of octopus and squid-however they are really nor, being all the more firmly identified with cuttlefish.â Squat squids have a smooth, delicate body (mantle) that is short and round with a different head set apart by two enormous complex eyes. Emanating out from the body are eight suckered arms and two long limbs which withdraw and stretch out varying to get a handle on supper or one another. The arms end in clubs which likewise have suckers. The mantle (body) of the females match 4.5 inches, about twice that of the male (around 2 inches). Every one of the arms has two to four columns of suckers which contrast marginally in size. The male has one arm with a hectocotylized sucker at the dorsal end to permit him to treat the female. Thickset squids have two ear-molded blades and a slim, sensitive inner shell (pen). They produce a lot of bodily fluid and are at times discovered wearing a Jello coat of bodily fluid to shield themselves from contaminated waters. <img information srcset=https://www.thoughtco.com/thmb/RsdDeecwPCqvkhypIvXQJmA9U74=/300x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Stubby_squid_in_hand-83cea4ba02934834afcb57b07b8f55aa.jpg 300w, https://www.thoughtco.com/thmb/nneAi-pMl8xRx3Nqby4PcS2GKNc=/964x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Stubby_squid_in_hand-83cea4ba02934834afcb57b07b8f55aa.jpg 964w, https://www.thoughtco.com/thmb/lg_IxiAcsgiANgZQVFPrlxmGfh4=/1628x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Stubby_squid_in_hand-83cea4ba02934834afcb57b07b8f55aa.jpg 1628w, https://www.thoughtco.com/thmb/vEFg3iU0u8SZlYCZlms-4ElB6H4=/2959x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Stubby_squid_in_hand-83cea4ba02934834afcb57b07b8f55aa.jpg 2959w information src=https://www.thoughtco.com/thmb/1VfxMs_o6gmmBdxG00DaJflXcGQ=/2959x1966/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Stubby_squid_in_hand-83cea4ba02934834afcb57b07b8f55aa.jpg src=//:0 alt=Stubby Squid (Rossia pacificia) class=lazyload information click-tracked=true information img-lightbox=true information expand=300 id=mntl-sc-square image_1-0-10 information following container=true /> A man holds a squat squid which starts to emit a mucous as a protective conduct. Stuart Westmorland/Getty Images Plus Living space and Range Rossia pacifica is local toward the northern edge of the Pacific Ocean from Japan to southern California, including the polar ranges of the Bering Strait. They spend the winters on sandy inclines in tolerably shallow water, and the summers in more profound water where they breed.â They incline toward sandy to mud-sand bottoms and are found in beach front waters, where they go through the vast majority of the day resting at profundities of 50â€1,200 feet (infrequently 1,600 feet) beneath the surface. At the point when they chase around evening time they can be discovered swimming at or close to the coastlines. Wanting to live in shrimp beds close to their principle prey, they dive themselves into the sand during the day so just their eyes are obvious. At the point when upset they turn an opalescent greenish-dark shading and spurt out a mass of dark ink-octopus and squid ink is normally earthy colored that has the state of a squid body.â <img information srcset=https://www.thoughtco.com/thmb/BijFMxd9e4hQATzPaYzrD14CAvI=/300x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Stubby_squid_swimming-a84cbef192624d76a2740032c0a052d9.jpg 300w, https://www.thoughtco.com/thmb/vCJWJt2IiSh8fKJi7qXtDfbLndQ=/975x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Stubby_squid_swimming-a84cbef192624d76a2740032c0a052d9.jpg 975w, https://www.thoughtco.com/thmb/aC19MHaT4Nixfp_2dqH6PznCD2g=/1650x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Stubby_squid_swimming-a84cbef192624d76a2740032c0a052d9.jpg 1650w, https://www.thoughtco.com/thmb/DbhdkmCDlIahsUXM3s3Fj1rBZZ0=/3000x0/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Stubby_squid_swimming-a84cbef192624d76a2740032c0a052d9.jpg 3000w information src=https://www.thoughtco.com/thmb/Qm4w2YfmiP8EYKLOdGn0OROt2iU=/3000x2000/filters:no_upscale():max_bytes(150000):strip_icc()/Stubby_squid_swimming-a84cbef192624d76a2740032c0a052d9.jpg src=//:0 alt=Stubby squid swimming class=lazyload information click-tracked=true information img-lightbox=true information expand=300 id=mntl-sc-square image_1-0-18 information following container=true /> Upset thickset squid swimming. Scott Stevenson/Getty Images Proliferation and Offspringâ Producing happens in profound water during the pre-fall and fall. Male thickset squids impregnate females by getting a handle on them with their appendages and embeddings the hectocotylus-equipped arm into the females mantle hole where he stores the spermatophores. In the wake of achieving preparation, the male dies.â The female lays between 120â€150 eggs in groups of around 50 eggs (each under two-tenths of an inch); the clumps isolated by around three weeks. Each egg is implanted in a huge rich white and tough case estimating between 0.3â€0.5 inches. The mother connects the cases separately or in little gatherings to ocean growth, mollusk shells, wipe masses or different items in the base. At that point she dies.â After 4â€9 months, the youthful incubate out of the cases as scaled down grown-ups and before long start to benefit from little shellfish. The life expectancy of a squat squid is between year and a half to two years. Preservation Statusâ Studies on the squat squid are troublesome, since the animal goes through quite a bit of its time on earth in profound water, particularly contrasted with its shallow-water Atlantic Ocean cousin Sepioloa atlantica. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) records the thickset squid as information deficient.â The squat squid seems to endure very well in dirtied urban coves, even those with exceptionally contaminated base residue, for example, the internal harbors of Seattle and Tacoma, Washington. It is frequently trawled in enormous amounts off the Sanriku-Hokkaido shores of Japan and other subarctic Pacific districts, however its meat is viewed as sub-par tasting to different cephalopods thus has low financial value.â Sources Anderson, Roland C. , Stubby squid. Different Terrorism Techniques and Terrorist Activities - 825 Words

Different Terrorism Techniques and Terrorist Activities (Essay Sample) Content: (Name)(Instructors name)(Course)(Date)Terrorism TacticsTerrorism is defined as the use of violence and fear in the quest of political, religious, or ideological aims. Terrorists use diverse tactics to carry out their operations around the globe. Just like any other activity terrorist activities have advanced with the evolution of technology and modernization. Their tactics keep changing over the years, and they get more sophisticated as time passes. This essay will discuss the numerous acts that terrorist use to carry out their operations.BombingsThis is one of the most frequently used tactics by terrorists. As a result of globalization, chemicals that are used in making explosives have become quite accessible. The making of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) is easier than it used to be decades ago. Terrorists, implant these devices in automobiles or near the roads used by vehicles where they can be easily denoted and the results are devastating since there is mass ive loss of life accompanied by massive loss of property (Harmon, 57). Terrorists use bombs when their target is a big number of people. Terrorists can also decide to denote bombs at a later time with the aim of killing the response personnel attending to either the wounded or the dead these are known as secondary attacks.Chemical and biological weaponsThis form of terrorism can be defined as the purposeful release of bacteria, viruses or other harmful germs that could lead to illnesses or death in human beings, animals or plants. Although biological agents have normally come from nature, it is still possible that they can be manipulated and changed to intensify their capacity to cause ailments (Frank,70). Moreover, with the advancement in research, terrorists can make the biological agents resistant to existing medicine. Conversely, the biological agents can be modified by increasing their capability to be spread into the environment. This is the one of the most dangerous tactics employed by terrorists since it can be spread through various means such as air, food or even through water (Harmon, 59). Furthermore, biological agents are hard to detect since they can take up to several days or even hours to cause illness.Suicide attacksOver the years the number of suicide bombers has increased tremendously especially in war-torn countries and those nations with religious glitches. Military groups and civilians have been the primary targets of suicide attacks. For instance, countries like Israel and Iraq have experienced many cases of suicide bombings in recent years (Frank,70). A big number of soldiers have died in Iraq since the 2003 invasion which was led by the United States of America. In Israel especially the Gaza part faces a similar challenge since she went into war with the Palestinians.Conventional firearmsAs alluded by Frank, (78) bombings might be difficult to carry out due to the heightened security measures in many countries, conventional firearm s are used as the best alternative. Many terrorist attacks in the recent years and especially in developed nations, for instance, the recent attacks in France and Belgium have been by use of conventional firearms by terrorists. Guns lead to massive loss of lives every year. For instance, domestic terrorists take advantage of public places like malls and parks where they kill people in large numbers since nobody would be suspecting such culprits.Training and communicationTerrorists have formed training camps where the members get the required expertise to carry out their activities. As a result of high rates of unemployment in many developing countries these nations youth have become easier targets for terrorist organizations. Greed for money and the high levels of radicalization has escalated the number of people and in particular the youth who want to join terrorist groups (Frank, 82). Some of these terrorists' organizations receive funding from other agencies like non-government al organizations with similar ideologies; they also participate in illegal activities like piracy or drug trafficking. Thus they can afford to pay the recruits who join them.Virtually, everywhere in the world today communication methods have cha...

During The Course Of This Class, We Identified Organized

During the course of this class, we identified organized crime groups throughout the world to include the Unites States and our southern neighbor, Mexico. Narcotics trafficking, prostitution, extortion, and murder are a huge part of the illegal activities controlled by these various groups. For this particular project, my focus will be on the organized crime group identified as Los Zetas. In the journal, Small Wars and Insurgencies, I read an article written by Lisa J. Los Zetas are also known for their sophisticated operations, which is broken down into three distinct phases. Phase one is the production of drugs in Mexico or the introduction of drugs from other countries within Central America. Phase two is the transportation of drugs into the US by ways of rail cars, trucks, boats, or rafts to cross the river. Phase three is the distribution of drugs from wholesale or bulk quantities of small retail packages for distribution to the streets. One of the major facilitating shipments for Los Zetas operations is San Antonio due to the vast amount of highway network within the city. Los Zetas utilize any and all resources at their disposal. They use everything from young kids on streets as look outs to high-tech equipment for surveillance and counter operations. The run their organization similar to a business and have accountants and like-minded business personnel to keep their profits large. African Americans During The American Revolution - 1686 Words

During the American Revolution, African Americans fought on both sides. Those who fought were given their freedom and, in some instances, provided with land after the war. African American slaves who fought for the Loyalists were resettled after the war in places such as Nova Scotia, Upper and Lower Canada, and England. Those, however, who were on ships that went to the Caribbean remained slaves until 1834 when slavery was abolished in the British colonies. African American freemen and slaves, although the southern colonies resisted the enlistment of black slaves, who fought for the Patriots where offered freedom and re-settlement after the war. Ideological rationales where offered to garner Patriotic support to openly revolt against British rule in America. The ideological beliefs where based on the basic rights of man, which the Patriots believed the British monarchy and government where violating. These rights included that Americans should have the right to local autonomy, a government by consent, and that all mankind is born free and equal. That everyone is â€Å"equal† led to the belief that no one had a right to govern without the consent of those being governed, thus providing justification for the American Revolution (1765-1783). These arguments persisted, of course, even with the hypocrisy of the Founding Fathers who claimed â€Å"all men are created equal† even while providing justifications for racism and enslavement. The Australian Jobs Act As per the provisions of Australian Jobs Act, 2013, the developing and manufacturing firms of major projects and products with a capital expenditure of more than AU$500 million are compulsorily required by the government to execute and draft an Australian Industry Participation Plan (AIPP). The motive of this plan is to ensure that corporations are providing full, reasonable and fair opportunities to other enterprises while operating in the industry of Australia relating to supply goods and services (Competition Policy Review, 2014). The intention of government increases the regulatory and administrative burden on producing corporations such as BHP Billiton. The firm has to claim that it is ethically complying with various regulations relating to penetration of competition. BHP Billiton has undermined productivity due to compliance with regulations, and it further increased the expenses of firm and project delays. Australian Shipping Regulations The Coastal Trading (Revitalising Australian Shipping) Act, 2012 has introduced new infrastructure for issuing license whereby it is significantly difficult and expensive for non-Australian vessels to provide intrastate and interstate shipping services. The new regulations have reduced the competition for BHP Billiton in the industry (Parliament of Australia, 2012). The shipping cost for outside countrys vessels has increased substantially due to this act which resulted in reducing the competition for Australian products that are transferred through this form of transportation. Through, the act has a negative impact on the profitability of BHP Billiton as well because it has surged the coastal shipping costs. Australian Competition Law The present competition law of Australia is significantly complex that focuses on statutory form. My dream company free essay sample

Lots of people find it hard to answer the question what do you want to do for a living. In addition, many dream that one day their hobby would constitute a big part of their occupation. I have always been good at languages and for me it is a pleasure to study one, not an obligation. But I believe that languages need to be practiced otherwise one will forget them. That is why I would like to work in a company where I need to speak many languages or at least one foreign. Also, I like different cultures and I think that working in a multinational company that has branches all over the world would be the most suitable place for me. Also, I consider myself a creative person, who likes dynamic and fast paced environment. That is the reason why being in the field of Marketing has always been my dream. We will write a custom essay sample on My dream company or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Working in such field seems very easy, but in fact Marketing and PR, not to mention planning, are activities that are very demanding – working on a tight deadline, being prepared for the unexpected things, being extremely concentrated, paying attention to every single detail and working fast, are just some of the things that a marketing person should be able to do. Most of my life I have lived in a country where economy was equivalent to crisis. I have had the opportunity to witness what is the situation with small business and what problems they face. In the recent years, especially after the economic crisis in 2007-2008, small companies have been striving to survive and remain on the market. Many people lost their jobs because consumption and thus businesses froze. That is why I want to work for a relatively large company that has developed in many markets and people have trust in it. I think that large corporations have many advantages and can give a wide variety of opportunities to every individual. Being even a small part of something that is internationally recognized is very inspirational for me. Big companies can be a source of new relationships and improve networking in general, which I consider very important. Another valuable aspect of my dream company is the individual development. As I already mentioned I like dynamics and fast paced environment. What I mean is that the corporation should give opportunities to every employee to learn more, for example, through additional trainings in a training centers or corporate universitie. I believe that learning and self-upgrading should be highly encouraged, meaning that horizontal development could be a part of the company culture. Vertical development has a high value as well. Getting a promotion is regarded as a recognizing one’s effort and contribution to the company. I would like to be an employee in a corporation where vertical development is encouraged and the process of leveling up is very fast and dynamic. I have always imagined that I work in a place where employers appreciate the efforts of the people under them and constantly motivate them. Companies can be really successful if its employees are happy and committed to what they do. I believe that every worker should be inspired and motivated, and to believe in the things the company stands for. The labor and effort should be highly valued and appreciated. People should be motivated to learn new things and grow professionally. The climate in the company should be friendly. Internal competition can be good in terms of personal motivation, but I think that it should be avoided as much as possible, since it can become a source of gossips, envy, etc. In my views the more appropriate way of working is the teamwork. I think employees should help each other and work together, thus achieving better results and keeping better working environment. Relationships outside the office are something acceptable as long as they are not manifested at work. After all, professionalism is important. In terms of relationships between managers and subordinates, I think they should be formal. Employees should be aware of their place in the company and their duties. The supervisor or manager is the one who assigns tasks, delegates responsibilities, etc. However, proposals and ideas could be highly acceptable. Big companies tend to have a certain number of shareholders. In my opinion shareholders should be the people who make the general and big decisions such as whether to sell the company, merge it with another one or sell more shares on the stock market. It is not a secret that many owners are concerned mainly with the bottom line or the companies’ profits and how all of this would affect their dividends. I believe that owners could pay attention to the image of the company as well and be more devoted to the ideas that drive this business. It can be regarded as a disadvantage of large corporations that the organizational structure is very complex and usually involves thousands of people. In that case many employees do not have any direct contact with the owners of that company. That is why I think owners should set a mission or main idea that would be a role model for behavior. Also, I believe that visits to every branch should be encouraged – thus owners would be informed how the business in the company is done and what problems occur. That is not something mandatory since shareholders have many things to think about, but in my opinion such visits would be a good practice. Today the world faces international issues such as air pollution, poverty and health deterioration. In this regard, I think companies in 21st century, in their role of global players, should be socially responsible. Charitable programs, for instance, can have double benefits – for the poor people whom the program is aimed at, and the company itself. Companies can build good image by corporate social responsibility and thus gain the trust of their customers. In my opinion, my dream company should be environmentally friendly – the production process should not cause pollution, the packages for the products should be recycled and the usage of renewable energy can be encouraged. Company employees can learn a lot from the place where they work. Inspiring and motivating people to lead a way of life that is environmentally friendly can be transferred from the office to the home, thus making the company a wonderful role model for every individual. This is the reason why I believe that corporations need to be socially and environmentally responsible – they can promote a better way of living.

Mother-Daughter Conflict and Social Assimilation in Girl by Jamaica Kincaid essays

Mother-Daughter Conflict and Social Assimilation in Girl by Jamaica Kincaid essays Social values held to be important in human society are effectively portrayed in literature. Through literary works, individuals/writers are able to express their subjective interpretations of life and social reality as they experience it. Literature as the mirror of social reality is explicitly expressed in the literary work, Girl by Jamaica Kincaid. This literary work illustrate literature as a medium through which Kincaid was able to express her views about the values and norms imposed on women by the society, and sometimes, their own community and social group as well. In Girl, the theme of conflicts between a mother and her daughter and traditional and Western or modern values are portrayed by Kincaid's effective illustration of her relationship with her mother. Jamaica Kincaid, a contemporary American Caribbean writer, illustrates in her work the dynamics of human relationships among immigrants trying to assimilate with the dominantly Westernized English society. Written in 1978, Kincaid details in her short narrative, Girl, issues that the protagonist (or Kincaid) experiences as she and her mother's values clash against each other. In the narrative, the author enumerates the arguments, or facts of life, that her mother uses to her daughter in order to Kincaid to follow her mother's orders, especially when it comes to assuming the role and behavior that she must conduct in public. As the two begin their argument for and against Western culture, norms, and values, fallacies are evident, where the mother's arguments are usually grounded on beliefs that have no concrete or rational basis. This paper looks at the fallacies, ideologies that were illustrated in Girl to show superiority of Western culture (as portrayed by the mother) as both characters try to adjust and assimilate within their new modern English society. The first theme that emerges in the st...

Care Ethics Personal Statement Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Care Ethics - Personal Statement Example When my mother asks me to run errands for the house like picking my younger brother up from school or babysitting him while mother has gone to buy grocery, I do it not because I love doing these tasks but because as the elder child this is my responsibility. Although I am least interested in singing nursery rhymes and making cereal for my brother, I have to do it. This is because from a very young age I have been told to become a responsible individual who fulfills all the duties. Therefore this is an example of ethical action based on duty from my life. The former example illustrates the ethics of care whereby our moral actions are determined by the understanding of the importance of relationships. My enthusiasm to meet and help my grandmother is because of the special bond between us. The latter example shows that my motives to help my mother are based on the Kantian ethics of duty, according to which actions that are done due to inclination have no moral value. My efforts to help my mother are just to discharge my duties. When I help my grandmother, I look forward to the smile on her face and the faintest hint of smile on her face makes me happy and proud of myself. In other words the consequences of my act determine whether my action is morally right or wrong. However when I baby-sit my brother, I do so in reverence to the societal norms.

One day as I was sitting there, observing people, I noticed two guys walking quickly away from the cafeteria, looking around like they were going to escape from prison or something, and then quickly disappear into the woods. I had no idea where they had gone but I was curious. The next day at lunch I looked for them again. It seems like they saw me looking, and one of them approached me. We had a brief conversation and he told me that they had been hanging out in the woods behind the school to skip class. He asked me if I wanted to join them. While it was out of character for me to skip class a number of things went through my mind. I had experienced a difficult time making friends at the new school and I believed that skipping classes with these individuals might help develop a friendship with them. On a deeper level I also had begun to become frustrated at my current situation and school environment. At not being able to fit in to the sch ool and meet people I had begun to neglect my studies and feel that school was not important. I had started to fail seeing the ways that school would contribute to my long-term benefit. With these thoughts in mind I entered the woods scaled the fence surrounding the school and skipped class with the two people I had just met. As we made our way back towards the school and climbed the fence we had originally gone over, I glanced in front of me and the school’s resource officer was standing there watching us. He later claimed that he had followed us since the moment we entered the woods. I thought we would only get in trouble for skipping, but after we had climbed the fence we had entered private property and the owner had called the school complaining. The officer arrested us for trespassing. I sat in the front office for a long time, outside and watched the other students walk through. Eventually we went into see the school resource officer. It was a terrifying experience as I had never been in serious trouble before. The others actually stuck up for me and one of them even said that it wasn’t my idea and that they convinced me to do it. It didn’t make much difference though, we were all caught together and that was what mattered. Since I had no prior problems in school I only received community service and a two-day suspension. The two guys I went with were expelled. They had to transfer to another school and I haven’t heard from them since. As I sat in the lobby of the discipline office I learned that my frustration with life wouldn’t be overcome with stupid rebellious activities, and that I needed to accept personal responsibility for my own life and stop looking to others to give it meaning and save me from frustration. From then on I learned and understood that life is what you make it. When considering stories such as this that shaped my personal development I learned that the story we tell ourselves is constantly chang ed in ways that coincide with recent developments in our lives. However, there was something about this instance that not only shifted my perceptions towards a different, or ‘better’ path, but also removed so much of the elements of my past life. It was this experience that expanded my

College Education Essay Example for Free

College Education Essay It’s important to get a college education not only to be successful in the future but also to think for yourself and gain freedom through education, we can accomplish this by being educated liberally. Like Cronon, I think â€Å"a liberal education is about gaining the power and wisdom, the generosity and the freedom to connect† (Cronon; paragraph 18) to the real world. Finding a purpose to attend college should go beyond college itself, you should be motivated to learn something you have a passion for and will actually use and apply it to the world. †Truly educated people love learning, but they love wisdom more† (Cronon para 15). When learning you are just recycling information that the educators teach you just like Freire’s â€Å"banking system† but wisdom is what you incorporate to the â€Å"real world† and it is what is most valued than just being educated and not apply what you learned with other things. In my opinion liberal thinkers or people who are liberally educated want to be able to progress in life and not just do what they are told to do. They want to be able to think for themselves and come up with their own ideas. Liberal educated people want to â€Å"leave the world a better place than they had found it† (Cronon para 17). It takes wisdom and education to leave the world a better place than how it was before because it’s not an easy thing to do in a life time. Liberalists want to progress no just to benefit them but to benefit everyone else as well and I think they can accomplish this by using their wisdom and their college education. The way I see the banking system is that the educators are selfish because they only teach to their own convenience and they don’t let the receivers think for themselves. The receivers then don’t make any progress in life due to the fact that they are so used to just following the rules that are given to them by the educators. Liberal education is not like that. â€Å"Liberally educated people understand they belong to a community-and help that community flourish by making the success of others possible† (Cronon para 18). Liberalists want to succeed and want to see others succeed as well. â€Å"Liberal education must be that the freedom of the individual is possible only in a free community† (Cronon para18). When having the freedom you can think for yourself and not have others think for you like in a banking system and I personally think as well as Cronon explains that the only possible way to be gain freedom is by being liberally educated that way you learn to think for yourself and be able to be part of a free community. What is the whole point of going to college and get an education and when you graduate you will have no idea how to apply it or connect it to the real world. â€Å"Being an educated person means being able to see connections that allow one to make sense of the world and act within it in creative ways† (Cronon para 19). What’s the whole point of paying so much money for a college education if at the end you won’t know how to apply what you learned in college in the real world? If you don’t know how to apply things learned in college to the real world then you won’t be successful in the future and you practically gained no power or wisdom throughout your whole college education. Being educated can help you succeed in life and in the future if you know how to apply everything you learned in college to the real world once you graduate and help you and others succeed in your community and the real world. By being liberal educated can help you not only succeed in life but it can also help you gain freedom.

Richard NIxon :: essays research papers

Richard Milhous Nixon, 37th president of the United States, was born January 9, 1913 in Yorba Linda, California. Nixon was one of the most controversial politicians. He used the communist scare of the late forties and early fifties to catapult his career, but as president he eased tension with the Soviet Union and opened relations with Red China. He was president during the civil rights movement and the Vietnam War. Nixon came from a southern-California Quaker family, where hard work was emphasized. A terrific student, he was invited by Harvard and Yale to apply for scholarships, but his older brother's illness and the Depression forced him to stay near home. He attended Whittier College, where he graduated second in his class in 1934. He went on to law school at Duke University. He graduated third in his class, and applied for jobs with both large Northeastern law firms and the FBI. His applications were all rejected, however, his mother helped get him a job at a friend's local law firm. At the outbreak of WWII, Nixon went to work for the tire rationing section the Office of Price Administration in Washington, DC. Eight months later, he joined the Navy and was sent to the Pacific as a supply officer. He was popular with his men, and such an accomplished poker player that he was able to send enough of his comrades money back home to help fund his first political campaign. After returning from the war, Nixon entered politics, answering a Republican party call in the newspaper for someone to run against the five-term Democratic Congressman, Jerry Voorhis. Nixon seemed the perfect man for the job, and he was welcomed generously by the California Republican party. The style of Nixon's first campaign set the tone for the early part of his political career, where he achieved fame as a devout anti-Communist. He accused Congressman Voorhis of being a communist. This sort of straightforward communist-bashing was new at the time. Nixon defeated Voorhis with sixty percent of the vote. Nixon later said "Of course I knew Jerry Voorhis wasn't a communist, but I had to win." Nixon became the junior member of the House Committee on un-American Activities. Nixon's pursuit of Alger Hiss, a former adviser to Franklin Roosevelt, gave him national exposure. Hiss had been accused of being a communist and of transmitting secret State Department documents to the Soviets.

Developing A Model Airbag

The reaction in Trial 2 most likely went to completion because there was an extreme increase in the amount of CA gas produced and in our observations, we did not notice any reactants that had not undergone a chemical change. The more effective design of the model played a significant role in the large production of CA gas; because Model 1 exceeded the mass limit, we used materials with smaller masses when we developed Model 2.Instead of the plastic weighing oat, we used the other plastic bags and also used less tape to attach It to the inside of our bag. In our previous trial, we noticed that acetic acid was leaking through the barrier. In order to generate a more efficient separation mechanism, we placed the sodium bicarbonate in the pocket instead of the acetic acid. The higher walls of the pocket used in Model 2 also served to prevent any of the sodium bicarbonate from falling out during transportation. However, like in Trial 1/Model 1, a possible source of error may be found in Ou r measurements: it was difficult to accurately measure the volume of the acetic acid and to measure the height of our airbag after the substances inside had reacted after the â€Å"crash. † In order to improve our experiment, it would be suitable if the trials were performed in a controlled environment at STOP to rule out any external atmospheric factors. If we had also employed more accurate methods of measurement, such as using a 5 ml graduated cylinder instead of a 10 ml graduated cylinder to measure the acetic acid, we may have been able to obtain a more completed reaction. The method used to measure the dimensions and volume of the bag was a little unreliable because there was too great a chance of human error. A laboratory device, possibly electric, specifically designed to measure volume could have eliminated any discrepancies in our measurements and calculations.Model 2 would be the most appropriate design for inflating airbags. As noted in Table 1, not only did it pro duce the greatest amount of CA , even more than we had initially predicted, but it also met the mass requirements. It also included the most effective system of keeping the reactants separate but allowing them to quickly deploy when it was time to perform the trial. The high walls of the pocket were suitable for preventing the Enhance from pilling during the building or transfer of the model. The design was also lighter in mass and more compact in size.

Conjugation of the Future Tense of Spanish

The future tense of Spanish is probably the easiest conjugation pattern of all to learn. Not only is its use much as in English, but its formation is irregular for far fewer verbs than with the other tenses and is the same for all three infinitive endings (-ar, -er and -ir). As you would expect, the future tense is typically used for verbs whose action will take place sometime in the future. Generally, it is the equivalent of the will verb form in English in sentences such as I will go or she will eat. Endings for Future Verbs With regular verbs, the future tense is formed by adding endings to the infinitive as shown in boldface in the list below. Although the verb hablar (to speak) is used as an example, the future is formed in the same way for all regular verbs: yo hablarà ©, I will speaktà º hablarà ¡s, you (informal second-person singular) will speakusted/à ©l/ella hablarà ¡, you (formal second-person singular)/he/she will speaknosotros/nosotras hablaremos, we will speakvosotros/vosotras hablarà ©is, you (informal second-person plural) will speakustedes/ellos/ellas hablarà ¡n, you (formal second-person plural)/they will speak If youre familiar with the conjugation of the verb haber, you may notice that these endings are the same as the present tense of haber (an auxiliary verb meaning to have), minus the initial h. Presumably, at some time in the distant past, a conjugated form of haber was placed after the infinitive to form the future tense. Verbs Irregular in the Future Since the ending is placed after the infinitive and includes the syllable that is stressed in the verb, you dont have to worry about the stem changes that are common in the conjugation of many irregular verbs. And since the future tense is a later development in the language, there overall are fewer irregular verbs in the future tense to be concerned with. Even some of the most highly irregular verbs (such as ser, estar and ir) are regular in the future tense. In general, most of the verbs that are irregular in the future tense modify and/or shorten the infinitive, but they all have the correct ending otherwise. Here are the most common examples: caber (to fit): cabrà ©, cabrà ¡s, cabrà ¡, cabremos, cabrà ©is, cabrà ¡ndecir (to say): dirà ©, dirà ¡s, dirà ¡, diremos, dirà ©is, dirà ¡nhaber (to have): habrà ©, habrà ¡s, habrà ¡, habremos, habrà ©is, habrà ¡nhacer (to make or do): harà ©, harà ¡s, harà ¡, haremos, harà ©is, harà ¡npoder (to be able): podrà ©, podrà ¡s, podrà ¡, podremos, podrà ©is, podrà ¡n  poner (to put): pondrà ©, pondrà ¡s, pondrà ¡, pondremos, podrà ©is, podrà ¡nquerer (to want): querrà ©, querrà ¡s, podrà ¡, podremos, podrà ©is, podrà ¡nsaber (to know): sabrà ©, sabrà ¡s, sabrà ¡, sabremos, sabrà ©is, sabrà ¡nsalir (to leave): saldrà ©, saldrà ¡s, saldrà ¡, saldremos, saldrà ©is, saldrà ¡ntener (to have): tendrà ©, tendrà ¡s, tendrà ¡, tendremos, tendrà ©is, tendrà ¡nvaler (to have value): valdrà ©, valdrà ¡s, valdrà ¡, valdremos, valdrà ©is, valdrà ¡nvenir (to come): vendrà ©, vendrà ¡s, vendrà ¡, vendremos, vendrà ©is, vendrà ¡n Sample Sentences Showing Use of Future Tense Siete de cada diez personas comprarà ¡n un regalo de San Valentà n.
